I was given an opportunity to travel internationally for the first time to advance my lacrosse skills, with the goal of playing women's lacrosse in college. I am raising money for the cost of the trip and tournament.

About a year ago I decided to try out for goalie in lacrosse (persuaded by an insistant uncle who played in high school) - I didn't expect it to go anywhere for me but once season started, I fell in love. I was a freshman who had never played before standing in the goal of every varsity game for the Byrnes Lady Rebels. Lacrosse has helped me a lot - giving me a reason to push myself, stay in shape, and work through any issue that arises on or off the field.
Once the high school season was over, I just did not want to stop playing. I decided to pick up summer ball and fall ball playing with the Comets and NextStep - that is when I met a coach who told me he was recommending me as a tryout for the USA women's team after I participated in a summer tournament. The process was an online application, video submission showing off my skills, video interview with the women's head coach, and then I was told I had earned one of the two goalie spots on the team! I couldn't have been happier when I got the news, I am really excited to be able to go on this trip that seems like a once in a lifetime opportunity.
So why am I on Fundly? I live full-time with my older brother and his wife and have since age 13. While we're all working diligently to ensure I have the finances to be able to participate in the tournament I was invited to, international travel is quite costly and I want to be able to participate in all of the excursions while I am there that are offered. That is why I am asking for crowdfunding resources, to ensure this trip does not become a financial burden for my family.
The Women's SAW-USA team will be competing in the Lisboa Lacrosse Cup in Portugal in June 2024 and I aim to be there defending the goal for the USA. I am also so excited to be able to try all of the foods Spain and Portugal have to offer, be able to explore the architecture and history, and meet so many other lacrosse players along the way!
